Disinfect containers

Container is the most used means of transporting import and export goods today. In the process of transporting goods, if the container is not disinfected, it will lead to the spread of pests and diseases between countries.

In order to support businesses to solve the above problem, IFIC provides the service of disinfecting containers with Methyl Bromide according to AFAS standards with preferential prices and quick certification time.

IFIC is a unit certified by the Plant Protection Department – Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development as a unit eligible to practice fumigating containers with Methyl Bromide according to AFAS standards.

IS CONTAINER DISINFECTION REALLY NEEDED ?

It takes a long time for goods to be transported by container to circulate to other countries, so some items are of organic origin such as agricultural products (coffee, pepper, cashew…), wood-based items such as Bamboo and rattan goods, handicrafts, wooden furniture products that have not been surface treated with chemicals, during transportation by containers, termites, termites, molds or insects harmful to the environment will arise during transportation. Therefore, sterilizing container goods helps ensure safety, minimizes loss of goods, and helps businesses stabilize commercial value during transportation.

Containers are considered the safest equipment to store goods, they can be both waterproof, moisture-proof, and can reduce theft, but they cannot resist termites, termites, molds or harmful insects to goods. Therefore, container sterilization will help businesses keep goods in the best condition, during transportation, no errors or risks appear, ensuring the contract agreement between the two parties. go smoothly. Besides, even if the temperature conditions change, the goods will not be damaged, contributing to promoting trade.

Container sterilization is also the key for businesses to have the opportunity to export goods to foreign countries, bring Vietnamese brands to the world, moreover, when exporting goods, they will have a higher value when sold domestically. domestic.

The return of containers to Vietnam in any form will cause huge and unpredictable damages both in terms of economy and reputation of goods exported from Vietnam. To limit the damage arising from the above cases

REASONS NEED TO DISEASE CONTAINER BEFORE USE

Grass seeds, soil, foreign objects … exist in the container

  • Available in containers because container cleaning is not done seriously and thoroughly.
  • Clinging, sticking on the body of packing workers, excavators, forklifts and spilling into containers during the packing process.
Dispersed from the outside environment into the container by the wind.
  • However, sterilization measures cannot completely prevent or control this arising problem.
  • Therefore the exporter needs:
  • Clean the container thoroughly both inside and out.
  • Packing area must be maintained clean, surrounding weeds (if any) should be cleared, cleaned and removed.
  • Loading and unloading staff should wear specialized shoes when packing. Wheels of cargo trucks should also be cleaned regularly.

WHAT CHEMICAL DOES IFIC USE TO DISASTER CONTAINER?

IFIC disinfecting containers is the process of spraying gas with Methyl Bromide to kill termites, prevent spread, and limit the generation of harmful organisms.

This process includes the steps of surveying containers, surveying goods, making survey minutes, this minutes must be signed by both parties on the issue of time, customer requirements and content of handling situations, trade, etc. The amount between the two parties must be recorded in a strict record to perform together with other documents to make the fumigation contract. Then carry out the sterilization steps as indicated by the Plant Protection Department according to AFAS standards.

Most shipping containers using wooden dunnage are returned for the following reasons:

  • In the container detect weed seeds, foreign matter, soil, etc.
  • The wooden backing materials do not guarantee moisture, leading to the generation of molds.
  • Packaging material, wooden dunnage without ISPM mark 15.
  • Packaging materials, wooden inserts still stick to the bark.
  • Sterilized and stamped according to ISPM 15 standards but still detects live insects
  • There was ISPM 15 but found arthropods (centipedes, small crustaceans, spiders).

The return of containers to Vietnam in any form will cause huge and unpredictable damages both in terms of economy and reputation of goods exported from Vietnam. To limit the damage arising from the above cases

TECHNICAL PROCESS OF CONTAINER WITH METHYL BROMIDE

PREPARATION STAGE

Text study :

Before starting work, it is necessary to carefully study relevant documents such as sterilization application, export contract. In which, attention is paid to contents such as: type of fumigant, dose used, location, time … If there is any unreasonable problem, they must work with the goods owner to discuss clearly and record the conditions. conditions and requirements related to sterilization.

Container survey:

Surveying the area around the container must be disinfected about the living situation of workers, workplaces, architectural works, electrical conduction systems…

– Surveying containers with the following contents: structure in length, width, height, container capacity with ventilation holes, fire protection system, tightness of walls, container doors…
– Firmness and tightness of the container.

Commodity survey:

The following items should be investigated:
– Characteristics of goods, quantity and volume of goods.
– How to arrange, how to pack and the type of packaging or goods to be discharged.
– Humidity and temperature of the goods and the air in the container.
– Survey the pest situation in terms of density, species composition, growth stage, distribution in the commodity. Pay attention to quarantine objects, drug resistance of weevils.
– Take a representative sample of the goods to be disinfected.

Make a survey report:

After completing the survey, conduct a disinfection survey record, clearly stating the survey results on the following aspects:

  • Condition of goods
  • Pest density and composition (if any).
  • Type of drug used
  • Equipment in the disinfection area.
  • Volume of goods to be fumigated.
  • Sanitary spray area.
  • Packing materials, supplies and equipment in the sterilization area.
  • Time to proceed and time to complete

IMPLEMENTATION STAGE:

Check and disseminate the plan:

  • The team leader notifies the vehicle owner in writing that the company’s fumigation team will conduct fumigation according to the contract and ask everyone without responsibility to leave the disinfection area according to the spirit of the contract. Disinfection rules and regulations signed by both parties.
  • Final inspection of the preparation of supplies and equipment for sterilization.
  • Dissemination of assigned tasks to each person, injection plan and things to pay attention to to ensure labor safety.

Đặt ống dẫn thuốc:

  • The drug tube is placed according to the principle of concentration in the upper part and descending gradually. Based on the stacking profile, arrange a specific drug pipeline layout for each container.
  • Always keep a close eye on the situation of loading and unloading the drug into the drug pipe placed in the container shipment to place the drug tube so that the activity diffuses evenly in the container. To prevent the drug from escaping or leaking into the goods, there must be a packing line under the end of the conduit.

Sealed:

  • Check the tightness of the container pipe doors.
  • Use paper to seal the ventilation holes, crevices, holes and openings on the container.

Inject:

  • How to properly administer medication.
  • Thoroughly check the Methyl Bromide gas cylinder because the gas-liquid pressure is very high, the cylinder locks are not open or leaking, to prevent problems.
  • The team leader gathers the whole team to check the sealing and make a final check before issuing the injection order.

How to pump medicine as follows:
+ Two people wearing gas masks, put the medicine bottle on the scale, open the lid, install the connector on the outlet of the bottle and connect the medicine tube to the container (use pliers and rubber bands to tighten the connection to prevent the drug from being dispensed). Leakage). One person turns the valve to release the medicine and carefully adjusts the amount of medicine very slowly (the amount of drug released is 1.5kg/min). A person observes the balance to know the amount of medicine used, when the required amount of medicine is reached, the valve is closed. Remove the tube from the flask by bending the tube and sealing the end of the tube with tape.)
+ At the same time, send two people to wear gas masks, use a halogen lamp or a pump to detect or leak checker to check and handle if there is a leak.
+ After pumping a sufficient amount of medicine for 15-20 minutes, the fan will operate for 1-2 hours. Recheck the drug concentration in the sterilization space.
+ Clean up materials and equipment, record the time of using toxic vapor filters.
+ Spray cleaning outside and surrounding area with insecticidal chemicals to kill termites and prevent spread.
+ Arrange 2 people to be on guard with the task of checking the penetration of strangers, checking the tightness, drug concentration, leaks, if any, then sealing them.

ENDING STAGE

Prepare materials, equipment, human resources, case study to discharge poison

At the end of the incubation period, it is necessary to prepare all materials, equipment and human resources to carry out the release of toxic fumes such as gas masks, masks with oxygen cylinders, poison detection pumps, gloves, masks, glasses. hand-held magnifying glass, aspirator, sample bag, first aid medical equipment…

Release toxic vapors

  • The captain informs the vehicle owner about the release of toxic gas and acceptance of the results according to the contract.
  • Spray cleaning outside and surrounding area with insecticidal chemicals to kill termites and prevent spread.
  • Choose the location to place the air intake, place the air intake pipe, the direction of discharge of toxic gas must be in the direction of the wind, do not let the wind blow back.
  • Arrange the person wearing the mask to put the air inlet for the hood to operate for 40-60 minutes.
  • Check the drug concentration in the container, if it is safe, open the lid (according to the principle of rolling and against the wind).
  • Gather supplies and equipment, clean…
  • Note the plan of occupational safety and poison prevention when approaching the shipment because Methyl Bromide gas is heavy, less diffuse, odorless, difficult to detect and very toxic. Before approaching the consignment, there must be a pre-test plan.
